Bordeaux's Garonne and Dordogne Rivers flow into the tidal Gironde Estuary, giving this itinerary a natural buffer against the low water levels that can affect other inland European river cruises. That generally makes Bordeaux less vulnerable to the drought-related low-water conditions that can sometimes disrupt cruising on rivers such as the Rhine and Danube.
