Why We Chose This Voyage

This is what destination-rich cruising is supposed to look like.

Thirty-four nights sounds like a long cruise. But when almost every day brings somewhere new, the journey feels less like one long sailing and more like three extraordinary European adventures connected aboard the same ship.

We start among the historic capitals and waterfront cities of the Baltic, continue into Scotland and Ireland, and then turn south toward France, northern Spain and Portugal.

What really sold us is the pacing. Across the entire 34-night journey there are only three sea days, plus valuable overnight time in places where an ordinary port call simply would not be enough.

Edinburgh Overnight

A very special time to be in Edinburgh.

Azamara Quest arrives in Leith on August 23 and remains overnight, giving us substantially more time than a standard daytime port call.

We selected this itinerary in part because that visit falls during Edinburgh's traditional summer festival and Military Tattoo season. Once the 2028 performance schedule and ticket arrangements are released, we will update everyone traveling with us.

Two Nights in Bordeaux

Wine country deserves more than a few hours.

Quest is scheduled in Bordeaux across September 6, 7 and 8. That means two nights aboard and three calendar days to explore Bordeaux and the surrounding wine country.

It is precisely the kind of extended destination experience that makes Azamara such a good fit for this journey.

Good things to know

Do I have to book all 34 nights?

No. The complete journey is made up of three voyages: 11 nights from Stockholm to Copenhagen, 12 nights from Copenhagen to Portsmouth and 11 nights from Portsmouth to Lisbon. You can join us for the complete 34 nights or choose an individual segment.

Why would I book three segments instead of the 34-night Grand Voyage?

We have special group pricing on each of the three individual voyages. In the stateroom categories included in our group inventory, combining those three group rates can currently cost less than booking Azamara's 34-night Grand Voyage fare as one reservation.

What if I want a suite?

Suites are not included in our group inventory. If you are interested in a suite, we will compare the current Grand Voyage pricing and available suite options for you.

How many sea days are there?

Only three across the entire 34-night journey - one in each segment. This is an unusually destination-intensive itinerary.

Are we going to the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo?

The Edinburgh overnight falls during the traditional August Military Tattoo season, and that timing was one of the attractions of this itinerary. The official 2028 performance schedule and ticket arrangements have not yet been released, so we will update our travelers as those details become available.

What does two nights in Bordeaux actually mean?

Quest is scheduled in Bordeaux on September 6, 7 and 8. That means the ship remains there for two nights, giving us three calendar days in Bordeaux and its surrounding wine region.

What is included with Azamara?

Azamara includes a variety of dining venues, a selection of beer, wine and spirits, onboard gratuities, its AzAmazing Evenings program and unlimited self-service laundry, among other amenities.
