Good to Know Before You Go

Celebrity Galápagos Frequently Asked Questions

A few practical answers can make it easier to picture the experience and decide whether a Galápagos expedition is right for you.

How physically active is a Galápagos expedition?

This is more active than a conventional cruise, but not every excursion is strenuous. Activities may involve Zodiac transfers, uneven trails, standing, heat, steps, and rocky terrain. Celebrity identifies options as low, mild, or strenuous, and the naturalists explain the following day’s choices during the evening briefing.

What is the difference between a wet and dry landing?

On a dry landing, you step from the Zodiac onto a dock or rocky landing point. On a wet landing, you step into shallow water—generally somewhere between ankle and knee depth—and walk onto the beach. The naturalist team and Zodiac crew assist guests during both types of landing.

Do I have to snorkel or be a strong swimmer?

No. Snorkeling is an exciting part of the experience, but it is optional. Travelers who participate should be comfortable in the water and follow the naturalists’ instructions. Celebrity provides snorkeling equipment and wetsuits, while guests who prefer to stay dry can still enjoy the expedition’s wildlife walks, landings, and Zodiac exploration.

What is included with Celebrity’s Galápagos experience?

The expedition includes onboard meals, drinks, Wi-Fi, gratuities, Galápagos National Park fees, naturalist-led exploration, daily briefings, and expedition equipment. Packages of 10 nights or more also include the flights between Quito and the Galápagos. Exact hotel, transfer, and land-package inclusions vary by the journey selected.

When is the best time to visit the Galápagos?

The Galápagos is a year-round destination. December through May is generally warmer with calmer seas and periodic showers, while June through November is cooler and drier, with nutrient-rich currents that support abundant marine activity. The best time depends more on your preferred weather, wildlife interests, and travel schedule than on one universally “best” month.

Should I book the Quito package or arrange it myself?

The 10- or 11-night Quito package is often the simplest choice because Celebrity coordinates the hotel stays, touring, transfers, and flights between Quito and Baltra. The seven-night cruise may work well for experienced independent travelers who already have mainland plans or prefer to manage those arrangements themselves.

Every traveler is different. We will help you evaluate the activity levels, landings, package logistics, and itinerary details based on your own comfort and priorities.
