Pinnacle Class
Koningsdam, Nieuw Statendam and Rotterdam represent Holland America's newest and largest generation. They offer the broadest dining selection, contemporary public spaces and a somewhat more modern interpretation of the Holland America experience.
Signature Class
Eurodam and Nieuw Amsterdam

Have It All
Have It All fares may combine items such as beverages, Wi-Fi, specialty dining and shore-excursion credit, with specific inclusions depending on the fare and promotion in effect. Rather than assuming the package is automatically a good value, we compare the current terms with what the traveler would realistically purchase separately.
Club Orange
Club Orange is a paid upgrade program that can provide priority benefits, dining advantages and other amenities. The experience differs by ship, so the value can be quite different on a Pinnacle-class vessel than on another class. We evaluate it for the specific ship and sailing.

We Check the Exact Ship, Not Just the Ship Name
Holland America's ships span several generations, and vessels within the fleet may have different cabin renovations, dining venues, entertainment spaces and onboard features. A review of Rotterdam does not automatically describe Westerdam, and an older photo of a cabin may not reflect what a traveler will find after a refurbishment. We look at the specific ship and current configuration before making a recommendation.

Holland America is generally considered a premium cruise line rather than a traditional small-ship luxury line. It offers elevated dining and service compared with many contemporary products while maintaining larger ships and a broader range of cabin categories.
Is Holland America only for older travelers?
No. The onboard atmosphere is generally calmer than the largest family-resort cruise ships, but the best fit is more about travel style than age. Couples, adult families, multigenerational groups and destination-focused travelers can all enjoy Holland America.
Is Holland America good for families?

Is Club Orange worth it?
Sometimes. The value depends on the ship, price and which benefits matter to the traveler. Because the Club Orange experience varies across ship classes, we evaluate it on the specific vessel.
Which Holland America ship is best?
There is no universal best ship. Pinnacle-class vessels offer the broadest contemporary Holland America experience, while smaller ships may be preferable for certain itineraries or travelers who value intimacy over additional venues.
Is Holland America good for long cruises?
It can be an excellent fit. Longer and destination-rich voyages are an important part of the line's identity, and our own Holland America experience includes several trips lasting three to four weeks.
Holland America or Celebrity?
Both are premium cruise lines we know well, but they have different personalities. Celebrity generally emphasizes more contemporary ship design and a modern premium atmosphere. Holland America often emphasizes destination depth, traditional cruising, mid-size ships, live music and longer itineraries. We choose between them based on the traveler, ship and itinerary rather than declaring one universally better.
